Does anyone happen to know anything about the Bushnell 3-9 X 40 scope included with the Savage Axis package?
Model number?
Quality?
Dimensions?
Any info you have would be greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Terry

They're the Sharpshooter line of scopes. Seems to work ok on both my Axis .223 and my 111 .30-06. They're both the same scopes but the one on my (stainless snow camo) Axis is silver. Both are plenty clear and hold zero. If iirc the number is 76-3945.

I can at least speak on the quality part of your question.
When i first got my 111 30 06 i thought it was kinda crappy and inaccurate, but figured i guess i got what I payed for, getting 2.5 - 3 inch groups at BEST at 100. eventually after about 60 rounds I was getting 40 inch groups haha so threw a nikon prostaff on there, actually pegged the same hole the first time out and tightened it right up.

the axis is a great gun and the scope will get you started, but you will be much more impressed with your rifle with some better glass

Did you have any issues mounting the Nikon?

The issue mounting a scope on a long action Savage is eye relief. With standard mounts, and even a typical 3-9 scope you will be straining your head and neck forward to get proper eye relief at higher magnification.

I would recommend getting offset or one piece bases so you can mount the scope slightly further back, and pick a scope with some good eye relief.

I was thinking the same thing
Maybe a one piece weaver base
