A fellow board-member has recommended this optic for my new AR-15, and it looks just about perfect for my needs. Not Rolex quality, but I'm more of a Bulova guy anyway ...

Has anybody else given it a try as well?

I was also wondering what minimum height of riser would be needed to clear the standard front iron sight. (I'd be removing the carry-handle and mounting on the receiver.)

A riser should be a pretty simple fail-safe piece of hardware ... other than paying hobbyists' prices for convenience and/or mil-spec overkill, is there anything wrong with choosing an inexpensive one from a place like Marstar? The state-of-the-art ones can cost (on a per ounce basis, I am told) more than some recreational drugs.

Please ... no more "You get what you pay for" admonitions. Maybe if I was buying a parachute ... :)

1x32 red dot

A couple of guys at my club are using the bushnell T-dot on there AR`s one use`s a scout mount that attachs to the carry handle, Marstar has them, another guy has one on a flat top with a riser puts the dot just above
the front site post in both cases. I have a flat top a utg quad rail and a riser
on the rail with aTasco pdp5 reddot that is42mm and has4 dot sizes and puts the dot on top of the front site. By the way i think the bushnell is abetter scope but a reddot from MARSTAR should be okay except the one that looks
like a c-more.

You won't need a riser with the second genertation based on a large thread on AR15.com. It will mount by itself on a regular flat top receiver for a co-witness, if you want that, with just enough room for most BUIS styles. I'm looking at this optic also for my AR.

i've been running mine for 2 years now,i love it.as far as a mount, just the mount it comes works perfect on a flat top ,on a a2 carry handle, just get a regular mount pictured on my HBAR

replacement

I forgot to mention, bushnell repair had good service. When I sent my 1x32 in because the reticle was angled by 5 degrees. They sent me a new one, its reticle is off about 7-degrees.
I love my bushnell products. But the 1x32 is crap. Unless your one eye is 2-inches above your other eye, then i assume the reticle would be dead on.
