I am getting my first varmint/coyote rifle in 22-250 and need some glass to put on it.

Trying to get something decent under $500 after tax and rings.

So My question is whats better?

Bushnell trophy XLT 6-18x50 (think it has AO) $280
or
Vortex Crossfire 6-24x50 AO Ill. mil dot $260

or

There is also a Vortex Viper 6-24x44 AO BDC ret $490 (breaking the bank).

I do need rings to attach to Picatinny base (integral) too.

What is the better of the 2 cheaper scopes? and is the difference to the viper really worth it for a Varmint/ranch/truck rifle?

thanks

Get a Bushnell 3200 in 4-12 or even 3-9. It will do for coyotes out to 400 yards and you won't have to fiddle around with the AO. My opinion was free so remember what you paid for it..... but that would be my suggestion.
I have a 5-15 Legend on my .22-250 and wish I had something in that range. My favorite rig was a Tikka 595 in 22-250 with a Bushnell 3-9x50. Put 6-24 on it and hated it and sold the package. Wish I just threw that goofy big scope in the ditch and put a 1-6x42 on it instead. Gophers need a 6-24, not coyotes.

I think you will find the Bushnell Trophy to be made in China. My Bushnell Banner 6-18x50 AO is made in Korea, and works OK on a rimfire. Still nice and clear at max zoom.

I would be tempted with a Bushnell Elite 3200 as they are made in Japan.

Go with the Vortex. If you can afford it the Viper or Diamond back are brighter. The Viper offers more user friendly features such as the windage/elevation knobs, side parallax, and the power focus ring can be seen without moving your head and giving away your position on the coyote field.

Plus the Vortex warranty is great, not that I have ever had to use it unlike almost every Bushnell scope I have ever owned.
