Has anyone seen a bushnell trophy clone,I sold a gun with a bushnell trophy to a fellow cgn guy and he told me its a clone,I have never ran into this before.thanks

Recently bought a "as new" scopechief off ebay which turned out to be a made in china scopeSchief(extra s!) , guy refunded my loot but played dumb about knowing.
so no doubt you could have had a chinese clone. was it spelled trophhy?;)

So tell me, is cloned sh*t still sh*t??

TDC

Probably. I bought what turned out to be a Scopeschief off this board quite a while ago. It was great...except the erector tube was out of whack which introduced huge amounts of parallax and the ocular ring was cross threaded to the point where nothing I could do would get it loose enough to remove. I still have the piece of sh*t, and all it's good for is as a handheld bird watching device. Not really into bird watching though.:mad:

rodagra,

Could you post a pic of the optic. I'm curious as to how close to the real deal these clones are.

I will take some pics later today. Must run to town shortly, but I'll dig the pos out of the box of "What do I do with this stuff" early this afternoon.
Btw, they look really good at first glance, and the extra 's' in Scopechief is hard to see and would be hidden under the rear ring if you were unfortunate enough to buy one complete with with rings.

Bushnell has China making the Trophy model now. I bought a 3-9x40 two years ago brand new in the box, and it's made in China. The finnish is slightly rougher on the tube than the older trophy made in Japan, but the lens sharpness is very good, and at least equal to other scopes that sell for the same $. It also feels a little lighter in weight than the japan one. Anyhow, I had it out on days that were -25c and it worked with no problems.

As far as I know today, all Bushnell scopes are made in China, and I think their elite models are made there, too?

both my elite 6500's are labelled japan as are the 3200 and 4200's i have seen or read about.

Chinese and Korean scopes are not all created equal. Bushnell and other manufacturers set the specs and make sure their real contractors stick to them. Not so with the clones.
Here are some pictures of the scopeSchief clone I got stuck with;
