Bushnell TRS-25 review

I picked up a Bushnell TRS-25 from Lever Arms. Lever Arms was great to deal with by the way. Delivery was prompt.

I was going to buy an Aimpoint Micro but I've heard great reviews for the Bushnell TRS-25. I thought I'd give the Bushnell a fair shake. Boy am I glad I did.

Specs:

- 1x
- Parallax free, unlimted eye relief
- 3 MOA dot.
- 3000 hour battery life.
- 100% waterproof
- CR2032 battery
- Obj Lens 25mm
- 11 brightness settings

I mounted it lickidly split on my picatinny rail with no issues.

I've owned several Aimpoints in the past and after my initial range test of the optic, I couldn't tell you the difference between the Aimpoint and the Bushnell. I shot the heck out of it and am quite pleased.


Pros:
====

- Price, it was $150.
- It weighs under 4 oz.
- Compact, I hate hanging things on my guns at the best of times.
- It co-witnesses with the iron sights of my Swiss perfectly.


Cons:
=====

- The bottom right hand side of the optic is blocked by something internal in the optic. See my third photo.
- I suspect it isn't as rugged as an Aimpoint. We'll see.


Conclusion:

If your on the fence about buying a red dot sight and don't want to pay for an Aimpoint, buy this Bushnell. I am very pleased with the quality so far.

I had the dot at the highest brightness in this photo. When you turn it down it becomes much smaller. It's a 3 MOA dot.

I gotta agree with your assessment of the scope. I picked two up a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love'em. I decided to give them a try after watching a nutnfancy review in which he gave them very high praise. At this price point it doesn't have too many competitors.

I'm reviving this thread because my wife and I bought a TRS-25 a little less than two weeks ago and finally got to sight-in and use it last Friday. It is on a NR SA VZ58 that has the CSA side-rail and short-optic mount that one typically sees an just about every CSA video.

It took me about 7 or 8 shots to get the scope "bang on" at 25 metres. (The manual claims that the sight's adjustments are set to zero by the factory. I was pretty startled that the first shot hit pretty well centered right to left, but maybe a foot low.)

Anyway, the reason I'm writing is that, while my wife is putting shot-on-top-of-shot on the bullseye, I was having some difficulty keeping the dot on one spot. We were using a rest under the forearm, so it's not a question of stability.

I found that as I blinked or moved my eye very slightly (not my head, my eyeball), the dot would move very slightly on the target and my groupings reflected that movement.

I can see that the 25 is not parallax-free. If I deliberately keep the rifle motionless and move my head so that the dot moves around within the visible image through the scope, I notice that the location of the dot changes on the target. I even noticed this in the store, before puchase, and this was acknowleded to my by the sales person, but as "insignificant" at short range.

Something else. Again, my wife's eyes must move differently than mine as she aims, because she's amazingly accurate. She has both eyes open, but if I keep both eyes open, the dot moves on the target even more than if I use only my right eye.

Because of my experience, I cannot help but wonder if it's me or the scope. What I'd like to do is try out say an Aimpoint PRO that supposedly has no parallax error, but this may be an impractical wish.

Have any other TRS25 owners had this or a similar experience? For that matter, have any owners of any other RDSs had a similar experience?
