Want to stay with the 250 gr at least. Wondering if anyone has a both potent and accurate load. Don't like the flash in the pan lil gun idea but I guess if it's the best game in town

Ya!
450 BushMaster is now chambered in lever guns as well as AR15 platforms. Nice.

The Hodgdon 2019 reloading manual show a 250 grain Hrnady FTX bullet:

IMR4227.....34.5 (1848) to 38.0 (2044)
H110.....37.3 (2010) to 41.0 (2240)
Lil'Gun......35.0 (2158) to 35.4 (2289)
Appears that these 3 powders are the most common across all the bullet weights listed.

Barnes XPB bullet#30548(275 gn)or 30554(200 gn) could also be used. I emailed Barnes and they told me these will expand down to 1400fps. They also said the fast you push them the better the work. I'm currently working up a load with the 275 gn and it is showing a lot of potential.

Do you have a reloading manual? If not go buy one, it costs the same as a pound of powder and is worth much more than that when it comes to safety.
I buy Hornady and Nosler manuals because those are the projectiles I use the most.

I trust nothing I read on the internet for charge weights unless I can verify in my manual that it's at least within the min-max range. I've checked some of the loads guys post (not in this thread) that they say are super duper and they get very high velocities from, most times those loads are well above published maximums, those guys will most likely ruin their rifle and maybe their face one day pushing things that far. I know the manuals leave a safety margin but there really is no need to try to push cartridges like this any faster, they're bleeding velocity so fast that 50 more fps isn't going to make any difference at 200 yards.

I just got a 450BM yesterday (Ruger American) and have not reloaded anything for it yet , haven't even shot it yet (will be shooting it today after I mount my 1-4). When I had my 460S&W H110 was the go to powder, I've got lots of H110, Lil'Gun, and 4227 so I should be able to find a good load for it soon using my 10th edition Hornady manual for reference.
Have 40 rounds of factory Hornady loads to get brass from, going to be fun making big holes in things making it brass only :)

Good luck and be safe
