Hello, everyone.

I am just wondering if anybody can recommend a good butcher in my peel/Halton area. Even west Toronto of Hamilton that would process moose and deer.

Just had a so so experience on the first moose we got. Just want to be ready if we get a deer this season.

I prefer to have a variety of cuts, some ground mixed with pork, sausages too if he has time. Also to mark and vacuum pack and sort evenly between the group evenly in seperate boxes.

I'm willing to help sort pack clean whatever support that makes it easier for him to do the job.

That's for any referrals.

(P.s. I don't line listening to someone complaining the whole jub you just took. If you don't like it don't take it. )

Have a look at game processing equipment sold by Princess Auto.
Buy yourself some butchering knives, meat grinder and a good bone saw.
Do your own.
Our experience was that we ended up with a lot more meat from our harvest.
Not saying a lot of meat went out the back door in all shops, but we had a lot more of it when butchered by our own, then in-experienced hands.
Now even the wives get involved weighing and wrapping. Turns into a social occasion.
We do it in the garage, on a couple of tables, overlaid with cardboard and a couple of cutting boards.
First couple of years we had a lot of stew meat and hamburg, but now our roasts and steaks are just as good as any "pro's"

Yes I do the same thing. Looks intimidating at first, but when you start to break down the quarters there's nothing to it. I use a fillet knife to remove all the bones, and to cut the roasts or whatever into pieces that are just the right size for my wife and me. I cut the meat out from between the ribs, etc. for grinding.

I see only of the instructional videos I books online. I am the guy who would rather no. Just drop the moos off and pick it up when its done. But it has to be someone I will be happy with their work. I plan of using them more than once so if they had a freezer to have the game would be better.

Youtube also has a neverending amount of videos on cutting up your wild game...

It's a great skill to have, especially if you end up doing remote hunts or bear hunting.

A lot of butchers in my area won't cut up bears.

We just got our first moose too. When I asked if we're dropping it off, bud says "hell no". In the end if you do it yourself you'll wind up with a lot more meat. Some butchers are know to....how to say...screw you over. It also helps having someone who butchers cows to help out...lol
