I found a BC mag with the metal lips in an area sporting goods store. Yesterday I tried it in my 30 year old Ruger carbine. It worked flawlessly with bulk pack Federal ammo. Eureka!:dancingbanana:

My post of June 20 has new information.

BC steel lipped 10/22 25 mags & LOADER?

I bought two more of the Butler Creek mags today and a Loader.

It was my understanding that the speed mag reloader was also made by Butler Creek (who are owned by Bushnell) but what I was sold is a Shooters Ridge Ruger 10/22 Magazine Loader.

So, anyone have any experience with this loader?

I talked with Al at Al's Corner Store, east of Arnprior on the old highway #17, which is west of what was the original Antrim Truck Stop. This is only about a 40 minute drive from west Ottawa.

As I related in an earlier post, I am returning the Shooter' Ridge loader to Al. I just talked with him this morning. He told me that he has some Butler Creek loaders on the way!

This is good news :dancingbanana: for me as I definitely need a loader for the banana mags.

Savage Tundra who posted just above this message said he has some. Hopefully for the Lequille Country Store he operates, these are Butler Creek loaders and not the Shooters; Ridge. He may even be referring to the BC- 25 stell lipped mags so I will leave it to him to clarify his post.

My appologise, yes, I meant the magazines, guess I jumped the gun on posting, I noticed the BC 25 round mags AND loader. No, I do NOT operate the store, am a family friend of the owners, am just putting the word out to fellow CGNers where they could find BC 25 rnd steel lip mags if they wanted them. He did have a BC loader and NOT the shooters ridge loader, however, it was sold, but no doubt, they will have more on the way.

The Early Bird Gets the Worm! That is a BC Mag Loader

OK- I will have a BC Mag loader in the mail tomorrow from Specialty Shooting Sports Outdoors in Creston, B.C. Find their web site and phone.

Good luck,

Sly

Butler Creek Mag Loader vs. Shooters Ridge....

I received my BC loader last week but only tried it today on the BC mags. Oh Joy! :D No more sore thumb or rim over rim fiascos. I returned the Shooters Ridge which was very flimsy compared to the BC. I don't know if the Creston, B.C. dealer has any BC loaders left but I doubt it.

Butler Creek mags and loader.....quick test yesterday....

I had an opportunity to empty my BC mags yesterday afternoon and they worked flawlessly 25 rounds in each using the loader! This afternoon, I sat down with the BC mags, some precision measuring tools and compared the BC mags with my two TI The mags that have frustrated me so badly. I can see several important differences. The plastic follower which pushes the rounds up for chambering is much lower with a different angle on the BCs. Also the steel pin at the rear of the BC mags are larger and more substantial than that on the TIs. I will keep trying to get the TI to work and report any solution. However, I am enthusiastic for the BCs which were cheaper than the black adjustable TIs. Possibly the TI mag being adjustable with the four screws was where I went wrong when I tried to follow the instructions. The BC mag is looser but is no problem and two mags may he snapped together, like a 69.

Glad you got it sorted.. they work well :)

More info on the BC 25 mag and the TI 25 adjujstable mag...

This afternoon, I started to modify the TI mag by flattening the follower. I disassembled the two sides with the three screws, separated the two sides, took out the follower and by that time, dinner was ready. I am reasonably confident that tomorrow, I shall be able to work on it, reassemble and see if it will properly feed. I shall try and take some images of the two mags, showing the differences so keep tuned in...

An update to this thread.

"
I was checking online. A 12 pack for 35$.. jesus. I can get a bulk ammo box of 500 live rounds for cheaper.

I'll wait and do my tests at the range then.
I bought three packs of 6 blue aluminum dummies from SAIL here in Ottawa in the past year for less than $30. IMO, to test 25 round mags for a Ruger 10/22 and the BC Mag Loader, would be very dangerous using live ammo!!!

There is a thread I started in the Rimfire forum which is a work in progress on getting two TI mags working as well as the Butler Creek. I took a number of close up images last weekend and have not had time to get them up on the thread. While the BC mags are great, I have dissembled a TI mag with no problem, in order to change the follower angle."

Above is a post that I made this morning to the General Firearms forum with morning.
