A few months ago I bought a ruger 10/22. with the wooden factory stock. It worked perfect.I really liked the look of the Butler Creek folding stock,..so I purchased one at the local gun shop.So I took the ruger out shooting a couple days ago and it worked like crap!!I figured it was dirty so I cleaned what tiny bit of dirt there was.Put it back together and for 40 rounds or so ,it was fine ,then it screwed up again.Bang bang nothing, recock, bang recock bang nothing ,recock, bang, nothing.I no longer had a semi auto,I had to #### it every time I fired.Took the ruger and the B.C stock back to the gun store. The gun smith found the problem imediatly. The reciever is held together with floating pins.It takes little efort to push them out.The triger pin had started to push out of the side causing the problem. The origonal stock fits nice and tight, keeping the pins from trying to push out.The B.C stock is alot wider and sloppier built and the pins are not held in place.Sure, you could shim up the sides, but why bother.I just put the factory stock back on ,and it works exellent again. So if you fide your 10/22 working poorly,it just might be your fancy new stock giving you greif. Any one else run into this problem?

I had the same problem. I fixed it "welfare style" with a strip of electrical tape on either side of the receiver over the pins to fill the gap. Other than that, the B.C stock has kicked ass.

Yep, a friend had the same problem. Took a while to diagnose it too because as soon as he would take the receiver out of the stock, the pins would fall out anyway because they were really loose. What a PITA!

Same fix for mine too. It's flawless now:)

I actually bought a set of pin punches because I thought I would need them to "force" the pins out of the receiver. Boy was I surprised when I finally decided to strip down the action and those little suckers just about fell out on their own!

You guys need these.

You can get them at hawktecharms.com, he's out of the states but ships to canada. They completely end all pin slop. Otherwise I have also seen people make thicker pins out of punch sets they get at princess auto.

What else??

Bought a used 10/22 with the folding stock a while back.
Last week was the first time I had a chance to take it out.
Would generally cycle fine, but I found:
1 - If I did try fire it, it didn't want to #### afterwards. Breech would only open about 1/2 way. I jerk on it about a dozen times, then away it would go.
2 - Even after I started paying very close attention to round count to avoid dry firing, this came up again (always on an empty chamber).
Remembering this thread, I pulled 'er apart and did the black tape repair job.
Out we go again tonight.
First 4 or 5 mags go no problem... then it happens again (again on a dry fire).
On mag 8, she got stuck open on about round # 6. Very difficult to push it back into battery.
Once I did... stuck again.
Packed up and came home.
Any ideas? Anybody? :(

Nope...I have a 10/22 RR on the same Butler Creek stock. Shot the action 22 match last week and not even a hiccup. I love this setup, but I'm looking to buy a compact 10/22 with the 16" barrel to put on this folding stock, so I can put my accurate 20" barrel RR back on its factory stock.

I did that once... turns out with the 16" bbl and folding stock it falls under the 26" limit and therefore Prohib. Be careful.

Yeeeesss  - just curious, or do you know something I should

well 200 for a 10\22 with low round count and a 25 round mag, is half price
for what you bought since a new one there is 300 pluse 100 for the stock thats a 50% discount, good price but i talk to the guys at shooters all the time and they always tell me you get what you pay for.;)

but for the record i did think about it for a bit good luck with you purchace:rockOn:

That kind of surprises me.
I've mentioned this site to both her and Mike, and neither really raised an eyebrow. hmmm
