Butler creek mag release

I tried one or two over the years and I found them it to be unreliable, gritty and of poor quality.

You would be better off buying a better quality extended release or modifying the stock one.

I tend to agree with the above. I've had them on a couple of 10-22's as well. Spend the extra couple of bucks and get a quality one like a VQ or the like, or just modify the stock one yourself......

What I did was drill a 1/4" hole (I think - can't remember) in the stock one, and glue my old steel bolt buffer in place. MUCH faster to change mags than those little buttons, and it's free. You can round it off or leave it as it is - works perfect. I shoot from a bipod and it's never in the way.

Of course, you need a different bolt buffer, but who uses the stock one anyway?

It's okay

I only paid $5, the mag drops out much easier.
I would prefer something nicer, but it has worked okay over the last few bricks.

I ordered one of the Ruger 10/22 titanium extended mag releases mfg by Power Custom and sold by Brownells. Very slick piece of kit, very efficient. Try it, you'll like it.
