Anyone else hear this?

According to my local shop, the Butler Creek rep informed them that the company can no longer export their 10/22 steel lip, or any high-cap rimfire mags into Kanada.

On top of that, he also said no more folding or retractable rifle stocks will be brought in the country. Said shotgun ones are still coming for now

Called a few shops today to see if I could get more of those mags, and a couple told me; "If you see 'em, buy 'em!" They're no more

Is this old news? They're killing us bit by bit....

Hmm, maybe it is the prohibition of exporting high capacity magazines to countries that are deemed a terrorist threat.

That INCLUDES Canada.

Countries EXEMPT from US export permits include:

Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom (excluding Ireland).

I dunno... I've heard this rumour before, and it usually results from BC having problems making all their deliveries because of demand, not the US State Dept.

The state department goes through these phases they will ban things and then then someone will explain that they shouldn't be... and then they will change their mind.... usually when there are changes in personnel.. Just wait a couple months....

I picked up a couple today at Italian sporting goods in vancouver.. according to the guy on the phone they had a lot in stock. He said 50 all told plastic and steel lips..

I heard the same thing here. I also noticed that the prices went up about ten bucks.
I was looking for Break Free and was told that to import it you had to have some top secret clearance because tha company that makes it is somehow associated with the space program or somesuch thing.
What is this world coming to?

I ordered one (25 rounds) from Cabela's yesterday- 23.99 plus shipping. Guy said they had lots in stock. LeBarons and Russells were both out.

US site is not taking orders for hi-cap rimfire mags to Canada anymore.

Unless you ordered over the phone.

SIR has the standard 10 round mags only.

Yeah, I did order over the phone.

Here's hopin'...

Barring changes to our laws, I can't help but think that this has the potential of being an opportunity for some Canadian company (or I guess a non-US company).

Sweet, another islander with a 10/22. I'd go with the tactical inc magazines though, whenever they get stock again.

As soon as I heard this the next day I phoned all my distributors and all 4 that carried butler creek products didnt have any more steel lips magazines and of course wouldnt be getting any. So stock up now.

Some manufacturer in the Far East will come up with cheaper and better stocks and mags. It won't take long. These export restrictions are going to be nothing but damaging. Look what happened in South Africa during aphartied - whole industries were born.
