Hi,

I have a scope that is too high to get a good sight picture with a cheek weld on the stock, so I'm looking for a cheek pad to help with my alignment... I've tried several online dealers, but can't find one...

Something like this

Does anyone have one? Where did you get it?

Thanks

ebay

Not sure if ebay will still list them, since they are technically firearms accessories. But do a search for M1 Garand Cheek Piece/pad. There should be a dealer that has repro's for around 20-30 US. They are very light brown/white colour but work well.

Try local gunshops? or gunshows?

Blackhawk Ind made one like that I had on a M1A, I ordered directly from them.

Check The EE might be one there....

As for the repo LE sniper cheek piece, I got mine for 29.99 down in the states from Numrich Gun Parts Corp.

If you are shooting a scoped M1 Garand, those USGI cheekrests (lace on, with felt pads) are OK. But they are deliberately thick in order to offset your eyeball for the M1D scope set up, and will be very uncomfortable with any other rifle.

Go to any of the tactical military gear websites. Look for gun accessories. There are fifty companies selling lace on, velcro on, slip on, screw on, etc buttstock bits and fittings. Pick the one you like. Ebay is as good a place as any to start looking. (You'll find repro No.4T cheek rests there too.)

Make sure that you don't use a cheek rest for a Garand on an M14 type rifle. Its not high enough. I paid a little extra and ordered a nylon one for an M1a from Springfield. It fits and feels great.

If the scope is going to be a permenant fixture on the rifle, why not build up the height of the comb with a piece of wood the correct height. When these fixes are done properly they can look quite nice.

All I can say is, if you need to put a pad on your butt cheek, you are holding the rifle wrong!

Ha ha. I actually thought this thread was going to be about pads for your butt cheeks like that episode of Family Guy where he had to wear a bum augmentation device to facilitate racing his riding lawn mower. OK, I'm a noob (and from, gasp!, Toronto) - back to the regularly scheduled thread.

I think you're reffering to a "King of the Hill" episode.
