Butt stock of Lee Enfield No. 1 Mk1 and No. 1 MkIII any difference?

Can a LE No 1 MkIII or III* be used to replace a No. 1 Mk. I? ie - will it fit? I know the swivel would be different - but does it fit in the socket?

Should fit okay. Chief difference was in the butt trap: the Mark I didn't have one.

Springfield Sporters had some original Mark I buttplates, but I don't think they wanta deal with Canadians; perhaps an American might send one up for you. They were only about 10 bucks last time I looked.
