I was at bass pro in Calgary yesterday looking at their Ruger Precision Rifles and noticed that their magazines weren't the standard metal aics mags that every other rpr has in Canada. Upon closer inspection they turned out to be the magpul ar10 mags sold in the US. They were not pinned and could still hold 10 rounds. I talked to the guy behind the desk and he didnt seem to understand the problem. If someone were to purchase one they are now in possession of a prohibited device. I called the manager and hopefully they pulled the rifles before they could be sold however if you plan on buying one from them or have recently purchased one from them make sure you're getting a proper Canadian legal magazine.

Magpul manufactures AICS compatible magazines. These magazines are supplied with their stocks and trigger guards. They are not AR magazines.
Would a .308 AR pattern magazine even fit a AICS pattern magazine well?
Perhaps you should check on exactly what the Calgary Bass Pro is selling with the RPRs. If they are Magpul AICS magazines, your warning is unwarranted.

I purchased 30 round magazines for my Mini 14, through Cabela's mail order a couple of years back the four of them all came un-pinned.

Magpul AICS magazines hold 10 rounds dude. I have a bunch of them. They are better and easier to load. It's actually an improvement... LMFAO....

The RPR is absolutely capable of using M14, Sr25 and AICS magazines. Straight from Ruger's site "Patent-pending multi-magazine interface functions interchangeably with AICS and M110/SR-25/DPMS/Magpul-style magazines (works with some M14 magazines)."

Don't get me wrong I'd love to have them as much as the next guy but if someone was to buy that not knowing and ends up getting nailed for a prohib mag, that'd be a pretty ####ty deal.

no round restriction on bolt actions except for hunting reg's dependent on which part of the country. However it makes a difference if mag will fit in any semiauto. ACIS style mags are made for bolt-actions.

If you mean single stack or double it was double and the latch for the mag well was on the side unlike aics that has them on the rear. As well they were identical to the ar10 pmag on magpuls website

This site is monitored, so there is every chance that the store will be getting a visit. If they lose their business licence, so be it.

Think of the children!

Yup have bought a couple of Magpul AICS 10 rounders from CTCS, a board sponsor here. I can see/understand why some AR10 / SR25 mags might get mixed up....

Cheers,
Barney
