Hello All,
I recently received my RPAL, and in looking into how to buy a handgun. From what I can see any gunshop requires you to be a member of a gun club, but is this the same if say i purchase one from EE forums ?

dano18 is right. Maybe it would be good for you to call CFC (800-731-4000 -- you'll probably have to wait a while on the line) and talk with them about the procedures for buying a handgun. An alternative is to call CFC and ask them to transfer you to the office of the Chief Firearms Officer for your province. That individual has a good deal of say in how handguns are managed in your area, and while you'll be getting the information straight from the source, it also won't hurt for you to be seen as someone who wants to play by the rules and isn't afraid of talking with the RCMP.

For a pistol, you will need access to a restricted range to enjoy it, so find a local club and pay up.

Its been a little while since I bought mine but, There were two legitimate reasons for purchasing a handgun. One was belonging to a club, the other reason was for the handgun forming part of a collection. Not sure if the second is still valid.

I think the collecting reason may be getting sketchy. Easier to make collecting not a need than to take target shooting equipment from someone who may be competing.
