Buying a budget bolt 22lr

A very overlooked rifle in my opinion. The ISSC SPA .22 LR. Toggle action... under $500

I have one and it shoots very well with a very light excellent trigger.

I have shot two; very slick action. One was a .22 the other a .17. I would not consider them target rifles, but they shot good enough to be reliable plinkers. The .22 was wearing and starting to get lose; I think ti was about 4 or 5 years old. My very early CZ 452 and my Brno Mod 4 (1954) are both still tight.

Ya I second this, a CZ 452 is well worth buying. He has a CZ 452 American 22lr Beechwood for $675 not a bad price. Would mean buying a slightly cheaper scope to stay under the higher $1000 budget. But the CZ 452 are great rifles.

May be the best rifle CZ sold IMO. Mine is in very fancy walnut; I bought it and a nice one in Beech in a package deal for $800.00 (both rifles) The one in Beech was bought for my retired Pastor, and he says it is the most accurate .22 he has ever shot. He does not lie.
His is on the top, mine is on the left, mine on the right.

LOL, every club has them. Outrageous claims are often made to sell a firearm... so they can buy the next one that will compensate for their lack of practice and skill.

I mainly hear it to boost their ego, or try to be accepted. I remember this old guy going on how he likes to outshoot people with their own guns. So I give him my GSG with 9" barrel and a mag. Knowing it's off. Even before he was done firing, he was boasting that he outshot me, but wasn't even close.

I dont own a norinco scorpio but a friend made me try his and i was impress with the trigger and accuracy out of the box,
for the price i would say its a fantastic deal.

I've had a couple Savage MKII's in the past and while I enjoyed how well they shot, they both suffered from ejection issues, leaving the spent casing jammed in the chamber needing to be pried out.

Replaced my last MKII with a Ruger American compact and have been very happy with it from a performance standpoint, shoots well enough for me (cans and bottles at 30 yards) and runs with 10/22 mags so I'm not dealing with different magazines with my semi. I have found speckling of rust on it though so the bluing seems a bit weak, but otherwise I'm very happy with it.

Every Savage rimfire I've owned has suffered from stuck cases. When I started shooting SK and Eley this problem stopped. I think the lube used is the main culprit. I know people have posted about fixing extractors, I've never done that so can't comment in that regard.

Hi thanks for all the replies and info. I ended up finding a gun today I bought a brno 2e from what I understand. It is the predecessor
to the cz452

Not just Savage, CCI and Blazer stuff sticks in lots of chambers...

Congratulations! You should be very pleased with your purchase. Of course every rifle is a rule unto itself, but when you role the dice with a Brno/CZ, the odds are in your favour. I'm a huge fan of the Brnos and their descendants. Let us know how it works out. Pictures would be nice.

Good purchase.

I'm a huge fan of CZ's. My personal favorite for all around use is my CZ 455 stainless. Standard weight barrel, synthetic "rubber" stock. It routinely punches groups under 1/2" at 50 yards and under 1" at 100 yards off a bench and is light enough to haul around all day in the bush.
