Here's a question. When you buy a compact pistol like a Glock 19/23 for $825 for example. You basically have to pay for the gun with the factory barrel and have to buy a Canadian compliant barrel. The dealer/supplier replaces the barrel with the Canadian compliant barrel and sends it to you. Since we don't get the factory barrel, how come they don't give us credit for it? We paid for it.

Questar sells the barrels they remove from the pistols on Gun Broker in the US. Maybe this is something new they have started but they have quite a few Sig barrels listed on that site as "take off" barrels. Don't believe that line that they have no value. Every major retailer in the US sells replacement barrels.
I agree with resold, or more likely they are purchased 'unbarrreled' since they can't resell the short barrels here, so I would assume they take a discount on the initial purchase, or again resell the barrels.
I don't have a problem with any dealer doing this, I just think its a shame we need to pay what we pay to get these guns only to have them modified and neutered from what the manufacturer intended.
We can't carry, so what does barrel length matter? And even if we could carry, what difference would it make?

They're still purchasing replacement dummy barrels for the Canadian market. Either way, its called business. Don't like it then import your own pistol with a new barrel. If you're gonna question the price of compacts then answer this question. Why are we paying $650-750 for a $450 standard size Glock 17/22/31 and that's if you don't shop around. Its called gouging and the Canadian market is famous for it. Captive customer base who have little recourse but to pay the prices or go without.
