I am looking at some used SIG 226s, both 9s and 40s. I've never purchased a used pistol. I'd greatly appreciate any insights you can offer concerning things to look for, test or beware of when purchasing a used SIG 226, or a used pistol generally. I know the 226 is a great gun, but are there any known wear-points or potential problem sites to identify?

All the best, Neil

The only wear points I would look for would be the frame/slide rails and the barrel where it locks. Steel framed pistols will wear a lot better than the nitron finished alloy frames.

If its a old style SIG 226

-Look at the frame rails for cracks

If its a new style SIG 226

-not much goes wrong
