I was going to put this off till the spring but now I'm pissed.

I just have a cheap 22 now and want to get a real one.

if I do get something, I want it to be usable in ipsc but I don't really know anything about the rules and classes there.

I was thinking about a glock 22.

is this usable in the different classes and a decent gun to start with?

is there any reason to consider a 9mm instead, besides cheaper ammo?

who has the best service and prices on glocks in canada?

thanks

Glock 22 is competitive in Production Division, you can download rounds to make minor powerfactor and the perceived recoil will be less than a lighter 9mm making the same powerfactor. In Standard Division it can be loaded to major powerfactor, but will not be as competive as a tricked out 1911 with a tuned trigger and heavy dust cover. You can however put a lighting strike trigger and aftermarket sights to come closer to the 1911s handling. In Modified or Open you would be thrashed. I use a Glock 17 in PD, the G17 is the predominant gun In PD here in Australia, both in numbers and in placings. The G22 is not an option as we are not allowed to shoot .40 cal. I recommend getting Heinie aftermarket sights and a 3.5 pound connector. With these mods you will still be PD legal.

This whole thing makes me wonder , are gun prices on the way up or will this lower the price in the near future ?
selling off the all but a few may be an option to being robbed ?

Have you shot a .40? They are rather snappy in comparison to a 9mm. Any advantages gained from the terminal balistics of the .40 over the 9mm are negated pretty quickly in the comfort and cost comparison for recreational or competitive shooting.

I have shot 9mm and .40 glocks but not on the same day to compare. also .45 1911's, 357mag rev, and 44 mag DE

I agree the .40 kicks pretty good. effecting follow up shots. and I don't know if I'd be getting into handloading anytime soon to reduce the loads.

I just wasn't sure how the classes worked and if there was handicaps etc for cals? if a g22 and g17 are one for one againest each other then a 9mm seams to make more sense to me, especially if using factory loads.

When the Assault Weapons ban was passed down here prices sky rocketed. Before the ban you could get an SKS anywhere from $70.00 up to $100.00. After it was passed prices doubled, and sometimes tripled, depending where you were. Now that the ban has been over-turned prices are back where they were, leaving a lot of guys with over priced guns that they can't sell without taking it in the shorts.

went out and bought a new g17 today. now I just need a belt, holster, mag holders, and more mags...

and probblay a AA 22lr kit.

where can I find the best deal on 9mm in the lower mainland? hopefully bulk. lever has 500 and 1000 bulk listed on their site but sold out.
