Hey Guy's,

Wondering if you guy's have bought/built for future kids/ grand kids etc. I have My first on the way soon and want to have all the pieces in place so when he's 18 or responsible enough to have something nice not to wreck it. I'm looking at storing all components long term so he can enjoy piecing everything together, breaking into the packaging and enjoy breaking in the rifle. Scope, trigger kit, rings and bases are easy enough to look after, but the rifle itself is what i'm concerned about. I've heard of guy's cosmolining rifle's but not sure if it the best way to go. Should i pull the stock off and store separately? I know that guys are using an undercoating material as well for storing(cant think of the name, i thought i saw it at crappy tire). I'm thinking i should recheck/grease every 2-3 yrs, thoughts? I have no intention of telling him about it until the day arrives.
I have my heart set on a 452 varmint w/Leupold goodies. Figure that'll serve him well.

On a side note, I'm selling a 10/22 with all kinds on goodies to fund the kids inheritance ( HB, stock, Trigger, mags, with all factory bits) roughly over 1k worth, and have it listed for 750 with hardly a nibble. I understand that the market is flooded with 10/22's but am I kidding myself with my price/expectations?

Thanks Gentlemen.

mods please move if warranted.

Most gun oil should do the trick. Control the humidity and you will be fine. Feel free to put on some gloves and check on it every once in a while.

If you can go 2-3 years with out picking it up out of the safe and playing with it. Good for you, you may not be a gun nut though! lol

I just UN cosmo'd my "collector/show" sks.. Then re oiled it back up with regular gun oil. (g96)
Dont ever plan on shooting this rifle. I know I will fondle it now and then though. Cosmo is gross.

It is hard to sell a "custom" 10/22 people want a deal on a base one for hunting or so they can mod them out themselves. lol

I hate to be a wet blanket here.. But after 12-18 years in our education system with day to day contact with far left leaning teachers..
Your grand kids might grow up to be not what you are thinking they should be...
Social Justice is been forced on all the students and the word racism is been used at the slightest hint of a hurt feelings...

I'm unsure to call you a great dad, or granddad, but that's a very kind idea you have.
A 452 varmint is also a wonderful choice, I love mine. I recommend a Yodave trigger kit,
and a few extra magazines. Who knows what they will cost in the future.
Most 10/22 aficionados want to pick what parts go on their own masterpiece.
There are so many combinations, Hopefully someone will come along who has to have yours.
