As I used to live right at the border I have done some extensive research on this. There is NOTHING in Canada Customs law that prevents you as a citizen from importing up to 1500 rounds of ammunition into Canada without a permit from DFAIT (Department of Foreign Affairs & International Trade).
The trouble starts & ends with the US laws. In order for you to posess ammunition or parts therof in the US you need an ATF Form 6NIA permit. That DOES NOT cover the export. For that you need to get a permit to export ammunition from the US Department of State. The trouble is, they won't issue them to anyone other than a licensed firearms business. Joe citizen can't get one- period.
If you get caught without the permits in the US you could be in big trouble. As for bringing it back to Canada yourself, I can't tell you to do it but if they don't check you at the border that is their fault isn't it? As for getting it through the mail, the US would have to check the mail going out of the country. Not too sure how often that happens. Canada Customs will let you import it. If you want more info, PM me & we can talk on the phone.
Cyanide - I'm not set up to scan, will be away for a few days then I'll try to get you a copy. Meantime I'll try to type it out so you can understand it. This was given to me by Canada Customs so don't scream at me, call Canada Customs.
a Canada Customs agent would not be buying stuff out of the States without having some idea what is legal or not.
If it has nothing to do with exporting then why would Canada Customs have the form?
Well OK....how many Canadians are being detained for Life in US Prisons for bringing back hunting supplies, ammo,....
Does anyone know...or is all BS and Chest Pounding on CGN Again. Lets see the list of Prisoners and the Horror stories at Gitmo (if any exist!)...I haven't heard of any...Have You???
Montana bullets advertises that they will ship to Canada on their website, so there is no real reason not to mention their name.
The rules of CGN prohibit discussing anything that violates Canadian or US law.
