Buying firearms online and registration

Hi, I'm a new PAL owner and this isn't 100% clear to me.

From what I understand, when you buy from an online dealer, the firearm is already verified and registered to them. So when the firearm is "transferred" to you before it is shipped, does that count as a registration? Or do you still need to call the RCMP once the gun is in your possession to register it?

A dealer will usualy do the transfer online and send a tranfer notice with the gun. You will have to do nothing.

A private sale is a little different. The seller will start the tranfer and then give you a referance # that you will need, to call in and complete the transfer.

Neither will ship a gun before the transfer has been approved.
