You get a certificate in the mail from New Brunswick, which is the epicentre of our world.
You put this certificate in a very safe place because, if you ever get rid of the gun, you need this certificate to transfer the gun to the next owner. You also need it to prove that the gun is registered if you are asked for proof of registration, as happens quite a bit during hunting season.
This means that you should keep it safe, but also know where it is AND be able to get at it. Safe-deposit box in a bank is safest, but the banks are open less than a quarter of the time. Keeping it WITH the gun also is not a good idea, just in case of theft, burglary and home invasion, when you will need to prove that the guns stolen were in fact registered.
Best location is in that little fireproof lockbox that you keep your land title, family papers and bonds in.
