Hi, am looking to buy a m1 garand.
USA is selling those rifles, I think they paid $1600 can to get it here, some appear on ee, but you don't know what you get.... if I want to buy locally where I have to turn to, to buy a good rebuilt one with, new 30-06 barrel, Springfield receiver ext, ext...... sometime its better keep money on our side, thank

If you want a real nicc Garand from a real reliable seller, lookup Billybob. He is a super nice guy, I believe a retired gunsmith. Restores Garands all the time and makes sure they are 100 % and his prices are very realistic compared to the beat up pieces I see at gun shows. You can buy from him, get a great Garand and pay less than what you mentioned !

If you're looking for a nice rebuilt rifle with NOS parts (including barrel) I recommend that you send "pocketfisherman" a message, he rebuilds very nice Garands on a regular message and you can get in contact with him very easily over CGN opposed to trying to track something down in the US.

Research and recomendations are the way to go..You gotta know what your doing when buying from the US, especially when you've just got a couple of pictures to go on. Brokerage fees, import tax, delivery charges all need to be factored in. Definately check out the dealers/people suggested in this thread...

It is all about price. I have bought 4x Garands in Canada and 1x Garand in he US.
Rifles 1-2 M/M Lend Lease bought for $900 about four years ago
Rifle 3 $1200 for a low serial number (first year of production M1) Dutch refurb about three years ago
Rifle 4 Korean/Early Vietnam M1D Sniper $3200 about one year ago
Recent US purchase, M/M Lend Lease $650 + $250 shipping/export/tax.

I saw a Post War Garand this time last year at an obscure gun store for $600, with Garand prices I should have bought it. However, I pointed it out to another CGN member who purchased it with glee.

Prices are only going up. Condition, year of production, matching parts, model (early/late gas system), etc will all determine value.

It depends on what you want? All matching collector? Or a been there done that rifle?

Unless you are saving $500+ or find a rare example in the US, it isn't worth Export/Import. It takes about 3-6 months, costs about $200-300 on average (not including tax) and in one case, one of my rifles was lost!!!! (Covered by the importers insurance, but I would rather have the rifle than the cash).

Ok but where I can find a nice USGI one in Canada?
