Buying my first ever firearm.

My first firearm was a Marlin 22N in 22LR. Still have her, 26yrs later. Might have to put back on her wood stock as she's wearing plastic right now.

Edit: I should note, the Marlin triggers back then was sh!t. Mine had a gritty 7lb trigger and thank goodness Rifle Basix make triggers for 'em. Now it's a crisp 3lb.

I was like you OP, went with a Savage MkII and its is awesome, new shooters I take shooting love it.

Get the savage mk2, I have had 1 for a few years and really happy with it. 10/22 is fun but a pain to clean (like all semi autos, especially .22lr) and you just fly through ammo faster then you can appreciate a nice slow accurate shot.
