Hey I am looking at a Ruger SR9 online and Im just wondering how it works exactly. I've heard someone say you get it shipped to a local gun shop and then pick it up there, so do you have to pay more for this service?? Thanks for any info

Are you buying from a dealer or privately?

If buying from a dealer, he will take care of everything, including mailing it to your home. If you are home to sign for it, it's a done deal. However, if you have to go to the Post Office to pick it up, there's more to it. You must call the CFO and get a temp. permit to bring it home. If you happen to pick a parcel up and not know what it is till you get it home, don't sweat in. Honest mistake, it happens to the best of us.
