I have been eye balling a milsurp on a US gun auction site but not sure how the FFL works or even know what a FFL is? Some how I buy therifleand tell the seller to iluseirunguns FFL and then the sellers suppose to ship it to IRUNGUNS then they ship Otto me I about a month? That's all I get out of it. So what is a FFL? Has anybody done this buy from the states? Any helpful hints?

Agree. I have done a few with Prophet River, and they are fine. The one time I used IRuN guns, I got screwed. They said too bad, so sad

Ordered from irunguns once and had a lemon. called and was told it was a cheap pistol. no viable solutions for a pistol that had a four-digit price tag.
Since then I took my business to other importers and never looked back.

15 or more with Prophet River. Clay and the staff are excellent people and the service is top notch.

The process is super easy. Just follow their instructions.

Make sure you explain them to the seller in the US before buying so that he/she is ok with the process and understands it as well.

I used Irunguns last summer to import a No1 Mk V
Process is very easy and it's all done over the internet.

First you need to contact the seller and the auction site if they agree the bids and transaction.
Explain them about IRG and give them the link to the site so they can see for themselfs.
Then you have to also agree on a payment method... i used an international postal money order.
But.... the sellers bank and postal office both refused it... go figure...cant argue with them from here.
So i finally paid with (FRAUD ALERT) (i know not the best choice but i had my back at the wall)

Once the payment as been made go on IRG website and fill out the form and pay the import fees ($200) plus $25 (to ship the rifle from IRG US to IRG Canada)
They will send you a receipt and a copy of their FFL in a PDF form
A FFL is basically their version of our PAL...a gun permit.
You then send those to the seller.

With those the seller is ready to ship to IRG in Arizona.
Ask that he pack it very well and ship with a tracking number.
IRG can charge extra if the package is crap.
The tracking is YOUR responsibility, not IRG, It's an inssurance for yourself, to make sure you know when it arrives, etc.

Once IRG USA as the rifle they will ask you to pay the custom fees, Canadian Taxes and the delivery in Canada.

Now you wait... they only ship to Canada once a month and your rifle needs to get to them before the 15th of the month.

Once in Canada they will ship it to you and send you a tracking number.

This all looks complicated but in reality it's all VERY easy. In all it took a little Under 2 months for the whole process.
I dont know about Prophet or the others so i cant comment on them.
At the time the only place i knew that did that was IRG... i'm sure others are just as good.

Make sure you take into account the exchange rate... for a rare or impossible rifle its good but for a normal rifle it's not Worth it.

I imported a bunch of guns with Prophet about 5 years ago and there were several hiccups, whole process ended up taking 6-7 months. Now they made it right and didn't charge me, but I decided to give IRunGuns a try and found the whole process much smoother. Neither of the ones I did through them took more than 2 months, I think closer to 1 in one case. I'd recommend either honestly but I tend to go to IRUNGUNS these days.

Did the importer supply the defective gun or just broker it across the border? If they just brokered it, to be fair I don't really think it is their problem.

Prophet River Firearms. Go to their website - everything is there.

X2, I did it and their guide on their website is very helpful and nearly bang on for times. They called me when my rifle had arrived in Canada to verify the shipping address prior to final mailing. I would definitely go through them again.

Clay's great at Prophet River so no worries going there. I think we are a little bit cheaper, Im not sure what they charge currently. If you do go with us feel free to call the shop and the whole process can be explained over the phone and any concerns addressed or send me a PM. Its a really easy process for the buyer. The hardest part is waiting for your new purchase :) . Happy buying.
