When I order firearm parts from the USA I always have them shipped to a freight forwarder across the border. Most companies will ship there but Midwayusa won't. I ordered all the internal parts for a 1911 mainspring housing from Brownells and they shipped everything that was made by Ed Brown and Wilson Combat since both companies are registered as exporters. The mainspring housing pin that was being sold under the Brownells name wasn't shipped since Brownells as a manufacturer doesn't seem to have an export license.
When I arrive at customs I never have a problem importing the parts but i'm batting 100% at getting pulled over and inspected. Once in a while I'll get a customs agent advising me that I technically need an export permit on the US side but it's not their concern.
