Buying used pistol from friend in the US?

Has anyone gone through this process if there is one? I have a friend in the US who has a used pistol they want to sell, just wondering if even possible to sell it to me in Canada? I've read on importing new from a US deal to CDN importing service but sounds expensive.

My hopes aren't up but figured I'd ask...thx

It IS expensive. Chances are it will end up being close to same price as a new one.

I am sure someone will post shortly with a first hand story.

Unless it's an autographed, or serial number 001, sentimental value, or something that would make that exact one desirable, much less expensive to buy in Canada. Very short DON’T.
If it got your attention, the import cost will be more than the gun, unless has some other value to you.
BTW what pistol are we talking about.
