I've had this for a while but just haven't had time to do a photo shoot. Today was a rainy day so I couldn't work on my outdoor projects and thought it was time to get the camera out and post this up.

Of note is the milled bottom metal. While milled trigger guards and floor plates do show up sporadically in the earlier blocks of 44 production, they are pretty much gone by this time except for a large percentage of f blocks. There are a couple theories as to why and apparently Volume 2 will address this but for now my guess is there was a shortage of stamped ones due to equipment failure and these early milled ones, possibly rejected parts from 43 production, were thrown in to fill the gaps.

Other than that it's a pretty run of the mill byf 44 except for the factory errors. I suppose the handguard could just be a straight up m/m but the odds of finding a MO handguard that close in serial are pretty low and it has definitely been on the gun for a long time. I'll let the pics do the talking and you decide.

Another nice one!
My five digit byf 44 f block is identical except has a stamped trigger guard and floorplate. Also the receiver isn't machined nearly as nice as yours.
Beauty!

Ah yes! I remember seeing a pic of your f block. f block is right around where they eliminated final finishing of the receiver. It makes sense a late one like yours wouldn't be finished as nicely. Also, by that time they probably had the supply of bottom metal straightened out.

As much as I love the rifle, I have to ask, what camera are you using? Because the photography skills are fantastic, Jeremy.

Hi Joe. Nothing special, just a Nikon D3200 with a Speedlight 700 flash. Sometimes I also use a cheap photography light kit I bought off ebay but you can do just as well without it most times. I take several pics of each area, take the best one, then run it through a photo editing program to make any small adjustments in brightness, contrast, cropping, etc. and done.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Another thing I find interesting that I forgot to mention in the opening post is the numbering of the bottom metal. For some reason when they used this early bottom metal they reverted to early numbering patterns on it as well. Thanks to Buckmastr adding his f block pics you can see how numbering would normally have been applied to the bottom metal during normal production in this time frame.
