Hey All,

Here are a few pictures of my newly received, C Broad Arrow marked, SMLE. She was made in England in 1916 (in time for many of the battles of the first war). She was re-barrelled in 1923 I believe (just not sure which of the markings indicates that), and finally FTRed in 1953. Somewhere along the line she was transfered over to Canadian care, and C Broad Arrow marked.

Some underside "wear", I don't think it's too much to worry about.

She appears to be in beautiful shape. Very slight pitting of the bore towards the muzzle-end. I just took these pictures quickly after I opened the packing. If you have any questions, or any areas you'd like additional pictures of, just let me know! She'll look great next to my C Broad Arrow Longbranch :D

Nice Rifle!!

I think it's a way cool rifle and you paid way too little for it!!

(of course I do have to to declare a small conflict of interest, right?)

Simply awsome man, great score!! We'll have to find out how she shoots when were both back home again! A shootout between the No4 and the No1 will be interesting!

Both Brit and Cdn service, I bet if she could talk she would have a few stories thats for sure!

Better get those .303 dies and components ready!

Would have been nice to see butt-socket stamps on wrist. London proofs on original body (Enfield or LSA), BSA barrel installed later.... nice barrels, too.

Interesting piece.

Beautiful rifle, and a lovely find. Nice to see another piece of our history saved for posterity. FYI, I once had an "anti" telling me that they should be in museums if they have historical interest. and not in private hands. Was he shocked when I informed him that the War Museum had (and may still have) auctions at regular intevals where they sell off donated and excess inventory. Guys like you and so many others on this site are truly the keepers of our military heritage and protectors of our artifacts. Good on you!

Smellie I believe this is what you were looking for? BSA produced 1916. You can also see a small repair to the stock up near the action.

Lots of History from British to Canadian service and finally ending back into British service again.
