They could do it if they wanted right now. C71 doesn't change that.

At this point, if this Bill passes, your guess is as good as anyone else's - they could prohib the single shot Cooey 22 under this system, and no one could say anything about it. No reason required.

They have already expressed interest in prohibiting military style rifles. They had a meeting years ago under Blayney complaining that the 12.5 list had not been updated to include new military style rifles that they have to allow as non restricted because they do not fit the prohibited status unless they are specifically named by order in council

OP, you and others need to understand that under a Liberal government, all firearms in civilian/private citizen hands are a bad idea. Until this becomes a revelation to certain members of our community we will always be divided.

I believe under the current system, the RCMP could get pushback from parliament should constituents put pressure on them. Under C-71 there is no oversight, that is the biggest change from the systems in place now and in the past.
