I was given a wooden box of ammo some time ago by a guy who just passed away.I do not know where he got it,but it was the last of 40 cases he had over the years.And since he owed me money he gave me the last case.I was cleaning the garage out when I found it.It reads...(23.6kgs)..It says c77 ball....in clips..in bandolears...1200rds..ivi865.56

I had to break the seal ...and inside were two green ammo cans....I checked it out...This stuff was like new


What is this stuff worth??.....is it any good???...Or sell it for parts...

There was a LOT, I just can't remember the LOT # right now of IVI C77 ammo that was sold off because it was shedding it's jacket during firing.
Most of it as I understood went to the states but if you are close to any CFAD (Canadian Forces Ammunition Depot) you might want to give them a call and double check the LOT #.

I may be wrong, but I don't believe the surplus lot had a jacket problem. IIRC, the problem was the lot did not make the required accuracy due to a certain percentage having the steel tipped core installed improperly. It's not that the ammo was horribly inaccurate, but there was a greater number of flyers.

As for calling in the lot numbers, that sounds like asking for trouble.:cool:

Nope, other than that lot of 5.56 that was surplused, it's never been surplused for sale to civilians. Most IVI surplus ammo you see at gunshows has been, how do you say it, "liberated".

Thanks for the offers and the information guys...I think I and going to keep this stuff and focus on getting one of those fang danggled AR's..or something like that to "BURN" this stuff off at some steel plates.

I have to get out and do some more shooti'n ,this just gave me a REALLY good reason
