Like many here, I am in the process of upgrading my SA20/SA15.7 to resemble the CF C7A2/C8A3. The C79 is the last thing I need. After doing some research, I have seen very few new or used optics for sale. For the most part, the used C79s are lacking tritium...either the tritium holder is missing altogether or the tritium is too dim. I read that many owners have trouble getting them fixed under warranty since the serial number was never officially surplused by the CF.
I have come across a few used C79s myself, and the dead tritium or missing tritium holder bothers me. Also the prospect of the used optic being reported when I try to get some new tritium at Elcan isn't a nice one.
So I was thinking I could manufacture some tritium holders with some nice new bright tritium for the C79.
I am an engineer with lots of part design experience and I have access to the resources to get some quality holders manufactured. I also know of some tritium vial suppliers.
I am wondering if someone on here would like to be a part of the project. I am looking to get some detailed measurements of a holder, or if you have a dead holder, ship it to me so I can measure it out in the lab. A prospective partner would be able to receive a prototype or two to do some low light or live fire test.
Here is what I could come up with without the measurements...
Hoping to have some quantity of parts within the next month. Any feedback would be appreciated!
