Hello everyone, had a very peculiar situation come up at the range today. I have a used C79A2 which was bought off CGN. Zeroed the optic without a problem, wingnuts were hand tightened only, and it held in place for five range sessions... Until now. Groups opened up for no reason so I checked the tension on the mounting screws... There was none.
I tried to tighten the wingnuts back down and they just spin, in either direction, neither tightening or loosening. Effectively, I have an optic stuck on my rifle that I cannot remove, or tighten down to use. Has anyone ever heard of this? Are there any corrective measures? Anyone in the know about such a thing??
