The eternal C96 bolt stop question: Is it safe or will I put an eye out?

So, what do ye experts think of a new manufacture bolt stop like this one?

I'd like to finally shoot my old girl but the bolt stop is stopping me.

Years ago, I came into the possession of a red 9 C96. The chamber was off-kilter (apparently from the factory - fired cartridges would come out with the cutest little bottleneck on one side) and she was missing a few bits. I sent it out for rebuild.

I spent a LOT of time chatting with a fellow on the interwebs calling himself Kyrie Ellison. A very bright guy, plenty of experience with the C96. The FIRST thing he recommended for any C96 that was going to be a shooter? Replace the bolt stop, lest you "empirically test your dental coverage".

Good advice - those stops get hammered and hammered and hammered over time. They can get brittle. If they break, the slide doesn't stop until it finds a rigid enough structure in your face to slow it down.

A cheap safeguard.

Have you inspected your current bolt stop? Is there any signs of wear or damage?

Above worrying about the bolt stop people forget that the spring kit needs replacement. Even an unfired C96 needs a spring relacement after 20 years if intended to be fired. The mainspring is what stops the bolt from slamming too hard into the stop.

Of course if replacing the bolt stop makes you feel safer and gets you out firing then do it. Just don't forget to get those springs replaced as well.

Thank Loki, I have replaced the springs. I am not confident in my ability to inspect the bolt stop and this is a very old, well used C96. I'd prefer to keep the matching one safe and put in a new one. I was hoping someon might know these guys and if their advertised "new" and quality metal was true.
