Further to my C96 questions in the past, I've taken my "hammer" apart and it looks a lot nicer inside than out. The next question is "Just how bad is the bore"? So, is this shot out, poor, fair etc. And I'll have more fun pics for your inspection later :D

hard to tell from the pictures , but it looks rusted up pretty badly. set your camera into macro mode and try for some better pictures , it might help people judge a little better

"Bore may show slight pitting, likely due to minor rust present at some point during the life of the barrel but since removed" :D

Well, at least there is still some sign of rifling...

Bittermansbro...
(200 rounds of soft lead bullets will smooth that puppy out in no time! )

What do you mean by that???

c96 bore - your opinion

You could fire a thousand rounds of lead bullets through that bore, it will not make much of a difference with the exception of fouling the bore with lead.
The only way to fix it up would be to have it re-sleeved to a 9mm.
Judging by the condition of this pistol, the cost would far exceed the value.
Re-spring it, check your bolt stop for any damage, run some fiocchi ammo through it.
my two cents worth:cool:

C96 Barrel

Hello. actually that barrel still looks salvagable, some of the ones Century brought in were totally shot out smooth, as mine is. If you google Redding's in Omak WA. state they do restorations in 9MM and 7.62MM by reboring and resleeving, not to terribly exspensive just all the hassle to get the slide down to them and wait several months until it's done.
One option to try is chuck a piece of short cleaning rod into a hand drill with a 9MM phospher bronze brush and go up and down the barrel from the breech end in a polishing motion, wipe clean after a while, use a foaming bore cleaner to leach some of the nastiness and old grunge out, continue if you do get some improvement use a soft bore mop on your drill that has JD paste of Flitz and attempt to polish, this could improve and polish your bore to some extent, there is still rifling there. Cheers.g2.

That was what I meant. It looks so rough that all you have to do is fill up the pitting with lead....smooth 'er right out.

Just tryin to be humourous, didn't come across right. :p
