Has anyone tried the Airsoft version. They are roughly the same price? Is the material different?
The reason I ask is because they seem to be sold out everywhere and I would rather have a Gen1 or 2 version because I can’t stand that spare mag on the new ones. I just want to cut it off because it’s butt ugly even though it does serve it’s purpose I just don’t like it.

the gen 1 Roni for airsoft and the original first gen model are almost identical. yes the function exactky the same as the real deal, once you have removed some plastic around the ejection port, easily done with a dremel. also the airsoft version has “Airsoft Only” molded into the chassis. a buddy has the original Roni, and we looked at the airsoft version in 007 Airsoft in Calgary. We jointly decided it was worth the money to experiement, so we split the cost and got one to modify. it was/is an extremely simple, straightforward modification that took less than an hour to do. We tested it several times at the range, total of more than 300 rounds through it, and it functions exactly the same as the real steel version. once we knew it worked, I bought his share, and have used it with my Glock 19X several times since. it’s a lot of fun to mess around with, and is Surprisingly flat shooting. even with warm 9mm rounds, the muzzle rise is no more than on my Kriss Vector Carbine...meaning, none at all. Hang an inexpensive red dot or some Magpul fold down sights and it’s a great little mini carbine

Thanks that is exactly the kind of help I was looking for. I just want it as a fun range toy. No drills or thoughts of using in competition. Just hit a 6” steel plate at 15yards. I can do it with the pistol alone but I want something for my other Glock with 22 conversion kit it should be great for plinking at spinners too!
