Our customers keep pushing the boundaries of what is possible to shoot with a Cadex rifle system. Todd Horner and his crew just sent in these pictures from a recent trip to Kansas where they pushed there CDX-40’s chambered in 375 CT out to 2 miles to warm up. Todd then stepped it up and went to 4400 yards and connected on his 16th round. Cadex is proud to contribute to this level of success! This is what pushes us to manufacture the highest quality of factory built rifles that money can by.

What kind of distances are CGN shooters reaching out to up here in Canada? What is your go to caliber for ELR shooting?

No issue making hits at a mile with my 338 Kraken. Topped with a Minox ZP5 5x25 with MR4 Reticle in a Spuhr mount. Actually tested the CB shot accuracy as well. Took one shot a day for 10 days (100 meters). All within 1/2 MOA. Basically a large ragged hole on day ten. Only time I miss at distance is a crappy wind read, and then not by much. Had my son and friend shoot a mile as well. Awesome rifle.

I’m confused how missing 16 shots is considered precision though ?? I know it’s a insane range but isn’t that the whole point of drop compensators ballistic charts and wind callers ?

I’m sure I could probably double or triple my effective range if I only had to hit 5 percent of billets.

Well, a hit on 16th shot sounds a bit mediocre but keep in mind most of us don't even have a setup that will allow us to try that at all... 4km is a very very long distance to try shooting at. Your reticle will close most of the target unless your target is a building... I would love to hear the size of the target and the number of MOA projectile had to be pushed up... No matter what, it is an achievement...

Always suspicious of these distance "records" .

Anything more than 1 or 2 shots is not a record. Anyone can shoot far given enough bullets. In this case 16.

Just ran the quick numbers on a target at 4400 with my 375 CT. At that distance I need 133.4 Mils of elevation, at a 10 mph 3 oclock wind you would need to hold 4.3 mils. This is the intersting part:
Time of flight is 13.058 sec
Max Ordinance (the highest point the bullet reaches during the shot) 782.33 ft
over all drop works out to 1927.5ft

With how fast the winds change in a place like Kansis even geting impacts at that distance is a challange with the amount of flight time alone you are dealling with. At 16 rounds sent to get animpact is not bad at all. I believe the target was between 1 and 2 moa they are using, i will double check and let you know.

cheers
Ryan

There are a couple of 1000 yard DCRA ranges. Other limited access ranges are on military bases, and can be infinite as long as the template fits and Range Control will let you!

The Saskatchewan Provincial Rifle Association Range has 1100 and 1200 firing points. From the shoulder of the grid road to the targets is 1640 yds (IIRC). Not a full mile but that is where the backstop sits in relation to the grid road.

Damn good achievement. Most of the 'crying' i hear is coming from folks who are not pushing their limits?

In any case, love the truck mounted shooting position. Makes me yearn for spring gopher season!

Congrats. That is a fair piece of distance. I would assume you were shooting West to East to minimize rotational forces??
