I'm looking to replace the stock trigger on my 5r. So far, I've really loved my Cadex stock and I love supporting Canadian business' for this reason I I'm leaning towards a Cadex trigger, but I haven't managed to find any reviews for the DX-1 or DX-2.

I suspect I'll be happy with most aftermarket triggers after having used the stock trigger for a couple years now. Is there anything anyone would suggest for a first trigger? is there anything you learned when you bought your first trigger? Maybe a mistake I can avoid?

I'm using the rifle for precision rifle shooting and 400-500 yard plinking on my friends land. I'm not too concerned about keeping the safety, but I would like to retain a bolt release.

I have both the timney 510 and a jewell hvrts on my 700s. I like them both really but in different ways.

The jewell is ultra crisp and sets to very light pull weights, narrow trigger shoe, consistent pull weight. Tighter tolerances in machining may cause some trouble in adverse conditions.

The timney also feels great but doesn't go as light as the jewell(some of the new ones do, Calvin elite i think). Wide trigger shoe. Very robust design, consistent pull weight.

My recommendation is if you're bench rest shooting and looking for a very light pull go with the jewell. If you're using the gun for hunting, tactical shooting, winter freezing weather, and/or setting the trigger weight over 2lbs go with the timney. For my uses i tend to lead towards the timney.

Hope this helps.

I took a few pulls on a Cadex trigger on a Cadex rifle at the Calgary Shooting Center and while it is a 2 stage trigger it feels more like a 3 stage. Stage 1 is smooth take up. Stage 2 is a whole bunch of creep which seemed almost "crunchy" . Stage 3 was a mushy unpredictable break. Needless to say, I was not impressed.

Maybe this trigger wasn't adjusted or set up properly but I wouldn't buy one regardless of price.

This isn't a slam against Cadex because I have dealt with Patrice and I like Cadex as a company, their customer service is excellent but this trigger leaves a lot to be desired.

I have all of the above mentioned triggers and unless your shooting br and need a 2oz trigger the new trigger tech trigger can't be beat for the price. It's the cleanest breaking trigger I have ever used. The timney 510 is ok but I've had a lot of problems failing lately.

I've got a Timney 510 on my 5r, boy is it ever crisp. Like I've never felt a trigger like that before, and going on now it seems I will go with Timney again and again.

I use Jewell BR for tactical PR matches, F-Class and hunting. Very light and crisp. You do not need to pull it, just lightly touch the trigger and it will go off without jerking the rifle.

I will have a Trigger Tech trigger for you to try at the Sharpshooter event in Petawawa.

I also recommend the Trigger Tech excellent trigger for a fantastic price. All my rifles will be getting one no creep clean break. Very easy to get good consistant feel and follow through.
