My father n law grew up on Canadian Air force bases. He tells me stories of shooting military Cooeys I think they were single shot but I could be wrong. Anyway they had a room full of them and a huge trunk full of 22lr shells.
All the army kids once they proved they were responsible with the firearm, after, before school and all weekend they could shoot as much as they wanted.
Must have been nice.
Anyway I'd like to find any old Cooey other than the repeater he has from Sears. Something to remind him of his youth and show my appreciation for him!
Your help would be wonderful!

You are looking for a model 82. These were very similar to the model 75 with a full wood stock extending to the muzzle. I believe they also had peep sights on them.

Check the EE they come through quite a bit but the price is a little higher on these than the 75's or 39's.

You can get a good 75 for about $100 or sometimes less (I have one in the EE for $75). Purchasing a 75 and having a full wood stock made might be the cheapest way to do it. The inletting is extremely easy.

Good luck, and I think you're idea is amazing.

Yes, it would be the model 82. There were the military versions (which is why they were originally produced) and civilian versions after the war. Biggest difference is the military versions will have the Canadian broad arrow marking on the breech and a serial number on the bottom of the pistol grip. Some had peep sights while others just had the iron sights. However, the slot is on the rear of the receiver on all 82's for mounting the peep sight. Value on these is usually $225.00 to $300.00 for a nice one with the peep. There was also a model 82 that came without full wood which was basically the same as the model 78.
The model 78 came with a peep sight. However it was not a military trainer and did not have the full wood stock. It was the same as the model 75 except the model 75 had no provision for a peep sight.

There was a real nice full wood model 82 on here about 4 days ago that sold for $225.00 shipping included.

Yes but wasn't the 82 not tube fed? Just hand loaded?

Nope, the only Cooey that was tube fed was the early gun that was just called the "Cooey Repeater" and it went on to become the model 60. That is the only repeater (other than the model 35 for a couple of years) that Cooey made. After Winchester took over in 61, the model 60 eventually became the model 600 and a semi-auto model 64 was introduced late in 1963. The model 82 was a straight single shot.

There was a tube fed .22 with the same peep sight as the model 82 and 78. It was the model 62. But it's the model 82 that your asking about.

Yes, I forgot about the model 62 and I have one sitting in the safe. It was basically a model 60 except it had a provision for a peep site and had a hooded target front site. It came with 2 apertures for the peep, one for hunting and one for target shooting.

the 82 is a amazing gun.
for such a old gun its a real tack pusher.
which is strange because it goes against all the modern thinking what with a barrel band on it and full stock.
ive got a sporter 82 (cut stock) and it outshoots some of my $1000 22's that i have laying around.

one of these days im gonna pick up a full stock 82 but i have yet to find one with a nice stock or one that i like, but when i do im gonna snap it up!

shall we get the juices flowing with some pictures?

why not!

Awesome. My Father n Law has the Repeater from Simpson Sears, or Simpsons as I think it was called then. He bought it for $10 maybe. He still has boxes of Wizbangs and other CIL ammo. He even has old Russian 22lr ammo.
Anyway I'd really like to find a 82 for a Birthday gift for him.
I think it would mean a lot!
Thanks guys!

These were both sold to our military and to the public.
The M82's used by the cadets will have a stamp , which is a letter C with a arrow head in the middle
Some had fake , wooden magazines also
I have both the the tang rearsight and the peep sight.
Either way ...very accurate ...
