I know it's not a precision rifle, but the topic seemed better suited here than in the equipment and gear forum. Has anyone ever used this rest and care to comment? Link to a demonstration.
A day or so after I posted this thread I had a few rums too many and went surfing on Ebay. Guess what I happened to find for sale? I just picked it up from the Post Office today and put it together after work. It's really easy to put together and appears to be quite solid. On the box it says it weighs approx 15 pounds. There are a few rub marks on the frame and I will blame that on Canada Customs not repacking it properly after they opened it up to inspect it. I took some pics with my Sako Quad to give you and idea of the length. Now I just need my Model 12 LPV (.223) to arrive and I will be a happy man.
The front part would make a good f-class rest with the right feet. I got a chance to play with Ron Herms joystick type rest last summer and I could definitely see the benefits of using one. Ron's was a bit more complicated and a lot more expensive than the Caldwell model, but it's nice to see something like this becoming available to the general public and not just for the few who have the $$$ to blow on the expensive rigs.
Duty was about $15.00 and there was no brokerage fee because I got them to ship it USPS. The postage and handling was over $50.00 US, so that his where they got me.
Just bought a Caldwell fire control front only for $249.99. Got it from Russells in AB it was their last one.
Can't wait to try it, should be in next week.
