Assuming that I am posting in the correct forum, I am hoping the collective wisdom of CGN'rs can help.

Briefly, I have an entry level CLS. I enjoy the recoil reducing properties but consider the adjustable front rest too "wobbly". When I dry fire a rifle from the rest, I can see movement in the scope. This implies to me that the front rest is not solid. I am considering replacing the large plastic screw mechanism with something based on threaded rod but ???

Has anyone else modified a CLS with good results? Thanks.

I found it was the front bag sliding back and forth in the front tray in my original sled.
The metal support is very tight when you dont have it too high and ensure to tighten the rod well.
So I put additional dense foam under the front bag and then compressed the bag and foam down with zip/zap ties to snug it right down.
You can duct tape it all down if you wish - or anything to make the front bag more as one peice with the front support.
I also put a piece of dense foam in the rear stock cup to give it a little more give on recoil, and dont much too much weight in the tray so it can recoil and slide on the bench. (I havent broke a stock but some claim they have)
