Caldwell shooting rests.....which one?

So Caldwell makes 3 different adjustable rests. The rock Jr, the rock deluxe and the handy shooting rest. Just wondering if anyone had experience with any of them and if the rock deluxe is worth double the money of the Jr. Thanks.
 
Tried the deluxe, didn't like it. Returned it for a refund. I struggled with the whole "rifle must glide on top of the rest" concept. It kept biting, rocking back. With a 300 Win Mag it kept jumping off the rest. I could have fiddled around with it a bit more but decided it wasn't something worth my time and effort. I ended up going for an M-Pod from Mystic Precision and never looked back.
 
Just looked at the mpod. I have bipods but when you have 3 or 4 different rifles at the range it would be nice to just drop one in the rack and grab another and go.
 
I bought a Caldwell Rock Jr. rest several years ago at at time when funds were limited with the plan to update later. I never did update. It works fine for shooting everyday sporting rifles.

Makes sense. If I was in the same situation I would give a Caldwell Tackdriver or a Bullsbag a try. Always wanted to try one of those. Now I just might have to...

The Tackdriver bag is the one I use now for all my range work. Love it! Just don't fill 'er with sand as it's a heavy pig if ye do.:eek: Fill the bugger with crushed walnut shell or course feed grain for portability.;)

I have a Rock and some home made rests and since I bought the Tackdriver bag it is all I use.
The only time I use the Rock it with my heavy bbl 243.

I was looking at those bags. Only reason I was considering on of the rests over a front bag was the ability to spin the dial and raise and lower your front end. How are the bags for adjustability that way?
 
I see. I was trying to avoid that with having the front be adjustable. I have found that I tend to lean on the stock at the back to get the cross hairs where I want them.......to bad that leads to bending and pressure on the barrel.
 
I have the Caldwell "Rock" for light to medium calibre work and the DFT for my "heavies". Each does what it's designed to do.
