Calgary deactivation job

if its a modern pistol do it if its a an old one refund the $$

soon this country will have no live prohibs with all the dewatting going on were doing the liberals job for them....NO GUNS

Most gunsmiths can do it, unless it's a rare collectible in which case, any reputable gunsmith will refuse the work. It's true, I've seen it first hand!

The above link will give you the guidelines and the form for deactivation. You can do it yourself if you have access to shop equipment like a drill, a grinder, and a mig welder. Although the form (and the law) does not include it, the CFC wants the deactivation signed off by either a police officer or a liscenced gunsmith. I have used my local firearms officer for that purpose.

Note that the CFO chose the guidelines arbitrarily. Most of the stuff they want you to do is not codified in law, just what they decided over timbits (probably).

Only thing missing from the CFO instruction sheet is dipping the shole thing in fluorescent orange paint.

Basically, if you weaken the receiver so that it can't be fired, prevent the barrel from being removed, weld the chamber shut and clip the firing pin and grind away enough of the bolt face so that it can;t support a cartridge, I think the feds would nto be able to build a case against you in court.

Also, you don't need anything "signed off". Just call up the registry and demand that they deregister it as it's been destroyed. If they ask for anyone signining off, demand that in writing and appeal. You'll win.

Better yet, take a photo of the gun, send it to the buyer, and refund his money.
He will then have something that cannot be fired and everyone can be happy.;)

Hi there

I have sold a pistol, and the buyer has wished to have it deactivated. What options do i have in calgary to have this done?

thanks

Is the buyer a Lie-beral?

Tell him to shove it and find another buyer.

LOL, i have provoked the anger of my milsurp peers, for that i am forever sorry.

to my only defense, its not a very collectorble item, in comparrison to so many others, and its not all matching, its worn, and the buyer really wants this done, so he can use it for a display piece.

it certainly isnt my first option to have this done, but the bills keep comming, so im giving in, forgive me :(

i feel dirty now.

maybe ill pay a visit to the EE and pick something up to make myself feel better.

What is it and how much? Maybe we can take up a collection to keep it from being RAPED. I'd toss in 20$ right off the bat, and I don't care who gets it as long as she's not de-act!:runaway:
