Calgary TSE M14 Clinic - Saturday 10 Sep 2016 - Debrief here!

TacticalTeacher

CGN Ultra frequent flyer
Location
Georgian Bay, ON
It's official, I'm coming out WEST to TSE in Calgary. I'll be doing FOUR days of CQB at the CDTSA's Milo Range and then spending the fifth day with TSE JR; he's the man!

We have spaces for 20 people and then I have to cut things off!

Edmonton Garrison M14 lovers:

This year we are having any participants from the Soldier ON program attend all my clinics for FREE! Come one out and have fun with us! :)

Where:

The Shooting Edge in Calgary. Here's a link to their website: http://www.theshootingedge.com/

When:

Saturday 10 September 2016. One day of clinic tweaking.

Cost:

$ 50 for the DAY

Timing:

Gather for 0830
Casual Start at 0900
Lunch at 12ish to 1ish... I love that Farmer's Market next door for pulled pork poutine! :)
Ending at 1600

Registration and Payment:

EMT the $50 to me with this information:

Name: Tactical Teacher
Question: What was your OLD CGN handle? I was not always tacticalteacher, you know.
Answer: hungry (low caps, no spaces) that way I cannot screw things up
Email: hungry556 AT bell.net

Somewhere in the EMT, remind me of your CGN handle AND which clinic it's for (PR or CQB or M14)

What is involved:

- Tools for tweaking, tools to avoid, tools that are nice to have but expensive, tools that are overrated and too expensive
- Gadgets that are nice to have, need to have, and useless to have (but I had to buy it to show you)
- Tools that you can make yourself instead of buying, tools that you can have buddies (owe you favors) make up for you
- Stripping the boomstick (you will be surprised at what I can show you)
- YES we will try to pull your rear sights apart, and then get serious with them
- Assembling the boomstick, and what to look for so that worthwhile tweaks can be or should be made
- Tweaks that work, tweaks that don't work, expensive tweaks so yer #### does not fall off
- Useless tweaks unless you have more money than shooting ability (many stories to follow at the clinic)
- Common pitfalls, expensive tweaks that work, more ways to ensure that yer #### don't fall off
- Lunch and then tweaking in the afternoon to tighten up your prized M14
- Lots of networking and socializing all the time. This is priceless.
- I am set up to install your .308 Win barrel on your receiver and then FINISH Chamber, then you test fire at TSE

Things to bring for Day 1:

* Your M14 rifle or receiver(s) with barrel(s) to be installed
* Your M14 (or two if you got them)
* Notebook, pens, digital camera, rags,
* Ball peen hammer, Allen keys SAE and Metric
* Punches, screwdrivers, more punches
* Plastic or rubber mallet, wood block or 2 or 3
* Masking tape, duct tape
* Anybody got a Black and Decker Workmate? Bring it along, leave it inside the car/truck until we need it.

Questions?

Bring them on!

Cheers and warm regards,

Evening

was wondering if there are spaces for this course still available?
it of course falls right smack in the middle of my work week but im willing to vacation some days and travel the 1000+KM to come down for the course if there are still seats available.

if you can answer here or PM me that would be great, thanks in advance for your help.

(any course for Peace River area like you had a couple years ago maybe????)

I am on duty-same as last time! Argh!!! If someone is going and would consider doing me a solid and bringing my rifle, I am happy to pay you $40 for half your course and fuel. I am in Beaumont and can get 'Athena' to you.
And I can ask St Florian to watch over your trip-if he isn't busy watching over me! Thanks, in advance.

Yeah, send your rifle down with someone from your neck of the woods. We will tweak it!

Yes we have lots of space still. EMT away!

Maifire, I am in leduc and should know if I'll be able to go by the end of the week. Really hoping I can attend, my m14 needs some attention.

One benefit to our Alberta economy getting collectively kicked in the sack... I finally, after years trying, have the time to make it to one of your clinics. Payment made and looking forward to it ;)

I just picked up a Springfield M1A and a newby to the M14 world (well not really….does shooting a converted auto back in the day count?). Would I need to do a starter clinic first before attending one of these?

Heybert:

You don't need no other beginner clinic. This is the ONE for you. Just show up and get ready to learn a shztload of information!

AlbinoMoose: your EMT was perfectly done... warm thanks!

Cheers,
Barney

305"s welcome?

Heck YES!! That's what this entire clinic is for! I even welcome all M1A's, LRB M25's (mine needed tweaking), JRA's and yes, Garands as well. I'm bringing both my Norinco M305 and my Berretta M1 Garand across the country!

Lately (past few years) I've been able to get out West once per year. I'm not so sure with my new second career how things are going to turn out next season. One never knows what the universe has in store for any of us! Hey, it's all good...

Cheers

Looking for a spot as well , can I bring 3 305's?
sending emt now

Bring all those M305's.... we will have many spare "hands" to help you tweak those babies. Your EMT was perfect there. Peacemaker56....

Lots of space still at the TSE M14 Clinic. EMT information in the first post of this thread!

SteamyTeabag:

To remove that cosmoline, there are many threads or discussions on how to remove it. My favorite method is laundry tub hot, hottest water and a toothbrush with VIM or DAWN or Palmolive dishwashing liquid.

I'm not going to use the old ways of Varsol, Acetone, and Gasoline, but they do work. Just be very careful. Health and Safety and all that stuff. Hopefully you quit smoking before using these petro chemical approaches. Get scrubbing!

Cheers,
Barney

I already spent a ton removing the rear sight and placing a nightforce Scope on my SA SuperMatch, heavy walnut heavy barrel. I had more money than skill. But would this clinic still be useful as I'm a noob anyway?

I'm with this guy , I have a national match that's working perfect . Still I would like to go , anybody want to carpool from Sherwood park or wainwright ?

For you M1A owners:

YES, bring your M1A to the clinic. We will tighten them up for you. I owned an LRB M25, and YES it needed tuning also! Do you think I know just a bit more than those builders after 70 of these clinics and tuning these rifles since 1985? yuk yuk yuk

As I told some sniper candidates at a recent visit to a sniper course, I'm just a Religion Teacher; when they asked who I was after I could/was correcting their .338 Lap Mag booolits into steel targets on night shoot. How many civvies do you know get invited out to a Sniper Course night PO (performance objective) Test? ha ha ha ha ha

Cheers:
