Pretty much anywhere you can use a rifle AT ALL for deer, you can use the .308. As you hopefully know already, the .275 calibre restriction applies only to SMALL GAME. So if you're hunting deer, don't worry. As far as I know, all of the places that limit calibre for small game hunting do not allow any centrefire rifles for deer hunting at all. The calibre restriction is set by township/municipal borders, not WMU borders, which means that some WMU's may have a calibre restriction in some areas, and not in others. Find out what township and/or municipality you will be hunting in and check it against the list in the regulations. These are available online or in print form.
