Thinking about a new build, first decision is going to be calibre. I currently own a 6.5x.284 and love it, for simplicity sake, I have been thinking about keeping with the 6.5. Possibly a 6.5x47 or a 6.5 Creedmoor. I am thinking that a short, heavy barrel (16- 18" 1-1.25" profile) on a single shot bolt action is going to be the way to go. I would like to shoot for 300 yard effective range.
My question is, how do the ballistics compare between the 3 primary 6.5 chamberings? Which would be the best fit for a short barrel rifle?
