Greetings, being mostly a target shooter, I am looking into buying a hunting rifle. Before I go and do that, I would like to know your opinion on calibre. I want:
- legal for big game hunts (I am in Québec). There are restrictions on calibre that is allowed (must be at least ###)?
- what about small game? Is there a restriction on how big you can get? Like no bigger than ###.
- so offers the most flexibility for type of hunt.
- that I can find easily. So avoid weird calibres. I do not reload.
- that I can shoot without going to a chiropractor between shots
. So avoid .50 or .338.
- shot placement is not a problem, I hit what I aim at
If I stick to 308, 270Win, 30-06, 7mm I seem to be ok with my criteria. Any ideas of others, pro/cons to those?
My current rifles are setup for target (huge and heavy) or milsurps without scopes.
Thanks! Nic
