I don't know what's worse. Us having thirty round mags pinned to five or this

Nasty. They could have at least permenatly affixed the lower part of a chopped 30 rounder to make it look somewhat descent, although I don't know if that would fly.

California....right thats the state where they have a gun free Utopia and nobody ever uses a firearm to commit any offense...hmmmm?

I'm Surprised that they still have the "Pistol Grip" still on it. I remember seeing a site where for a rifle i think the Stoner M96 they remove the Pistol grip since it's not allowed to be sold with it in Cali, but they leave the Mounting stud so you can put one on later,

But man having to remove the locking pin every time to reload, what a crock poor gun should not have had that done, WTF is the matter with California!?

Wow, sounds like a paradise ;)

Seriously, Cali is so %$&#ed up, don't know why it's considered so great to live there...

Oh well, if that is their only option then I say go for it.

I wonder how many people here would jump at the opportunity to own an AK in the same fashion. My guess is a LOT. It is easy to say that it looks crap when you can own the same thing unaltered.

The reason why it's legal is because it has a fixed magazine, so it doesn't qualify as an "assault weapon" under Californian law. The other way of doing it is to keep the detachable magazine and remove all the "assault weapon" features, which is much harder to do than it was under the old US Federal law, as any one feature makes it an "assault weapon", so no pistol grip, flash hider, bayonet lug, etc.

This company has been making these lowers for awhile: www.fabten.com
